Azercosmos OJSC and Türkiye's satellite operator Turksat have signed a commercial agreement, AzVision.az reports.

According to the OJSC, thanks to this cooperation, Turksat will use the resources of the Azerspace-2 satellite in data transmission projects in the African region. At the same time, Azercosmos will be able to use the new satellite technologies of Turksat.

Meanwhile, Azerkosmos strives to become one of the driving forces of the global space industry by participating in a wide range of research and development activities and major global projects, cooperating with international stakeholders and partners, and introducing local know-how.

The goal of Azercosmos OJSC is to create a space ecosystem in Azerbaijan.

To note, according to the results of 2023, revenues of Azerkosmos OJSC from the provision of satellite and telecommunication services amounted to $19.8 million. This is 25.56 percent, or $6.8 million less than in 2022. Based on the data of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications of Azerbaijan, only in December, Azercosmos' revenues from the export of services to 45 countries amounted to $1.8 million.


During the reporting period, based on the center's data, the JSC exported satellite and telecommunication services to the UK (for $5.8 million), Luxembourg ($4.1 million), UAE ($1.6 million), Germany ($1 million), and Nigeria ($724,900).
